The Maintenance Departments of Physical Plant are responsible for the daily maintenance of campus facilities and all systems. They perform plumbing, painting, carpentry, electrical work, and general maintenance that is necessary to maintain our campus facilities. Our departments are also responsible for the maintenance and operations of all HVAC equipment. We also oversee pest control and grounds/landscaping contracts and needs. Some of the areas we perform services in consist of chillers, motors, air handlers, sewage, water, and gas systems. In addition, the Maintenance Departments also performs small renovations and/or remodeling projects. Other areas our Maintenance Departments perform services in are key and lock management, fire alarms, elevators, moving services, and assist with set-ups for special events.
Our Custodial Services Departments provide services to all academic, administrative, athletic buildings and a residence hall. Our Custodial employees are assigned to individual campus buildings (sometimes more than one). In addition, a special projects crew and floor technician crew is maintained by Custodial Services and is used as needed. The Custodial Services is responsible for cleaning approximately 1 million sq ft. of building space. The goal of our custodial staff is to always strive toward a clean and pleasant environment with regularly-scheduled cleanings of classrooms, offices, restrooms and common areas. We are dedicated to supporting the GSCC community.
Gadsden State Community College’s Maintenance and Custodial Departments are committed to providing exceptional customer service to our students, faculty, and staff. It is our goal to be aware of the changing needs of the GSCC’s Community and its ever-changing environment. Currently, our campuses consist of 55 occupied buildings, 384 acres of property, and approximately 1 million square feet of interior space.
